The Final Frontier: Mission Statement

Why have I always loved science fiction? There must be an origin. My 90’s were marked with alien posters, electricity balls, lava lamps, and glow in the dark stars. Had I been abducted by the X-files? (Haha)

When I was old enough to first appreciate movies I gravitated toward science fiction. My “holy trinity” of movies were Independence Day (at the top), and M.I.B. and Jurassic Park 2 (solely because my love, Jeff Goldblum, was the lead in the sequel). Nothing was cooler than these three films.

My love of the genre evolved in high school, when I took the red pill and went deep down the rabbit hole. I dedicated one a day week for a year to learning, reading, watching everything I could about the Wachowski Brother’s (now Sibling’s) The Matrix. I even have a picture of me dressed up as Trinity.

In college, I studied film and philosophy. My favorite movie changed to Fellini’s 8 ½, not a science fiction film through the director in the movie struggles to make his own, autobiographical story with science fiction flourishes. And then I knew it. I am a director. This genre has power over me.  And I have to tell its/ my story.

I thus begin my exploration of strange new worlds and my relationship to them as a female director.
