I watched this movie again with friends before one of my best friend’s wedding. It’s a visual delight and I will never get over how cool it is to have shag carpet covering all the walls inside Barbarella’s spacecraft.

There has been talk of a remake for a while now,  and though that is silly an unnecessary (as most remakes are) I would still be interested in seeing it. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=104765

Barbarella is best as a visually stimulating space adventure. The story is secondary to the images or to the new worlds being explored and the story is also secondary to Barbarella herself. She is beautiful, sexy, but naive and innocent. It’s a joy watching her run around space, even if it is a bit sexist. I have no problem appreciating women’s beauty, and Jane Fonda certainly is beautiful.

I love the models and the creative, silly imaging of future worlds with no scientific basis. A wind sail ship would not fly in space, but it’s cool. The blind angel is cool. It’s a mix of fantasy in space with few to no scientific grounds but it succeeds in creating a joyous adventurous future we can only dream of seeing.
