Saving Science Fiction from Strong Female Characters – Part 1
This blog analysis makes the point that when we say strong female character in a sci-fi we define her strength they way we define a man’s strength, such as she is logical, physically strong, brave, can make difficult decisions etc instead of recognizing female strengths themselves, such as patience, love, the ability to raise a family etc.
My favorite female character in science fiction is Kira Nerys from Star Trek DS9. She is strong in masculine and feminine terms.
The article, however, is worth a read.
