Lwaxana Troi is one of my favorite characters. She is always full of life even when the show is not (as in the first two seasons). The argument in “Half a Life” episode is one argument that no human can understand. Lwaxana must fight to convince her lover to live. It seems like the obvious answer- the only answer- to humans. But here, in a skillful episode, we really see a different side. One we will never believe, but somehow, we can understand, and it is heartbreaking. Superb performance by David Ogden Stiers. Love this episode. But I deeply wish he would have gone on with Lwaxana. He seems her perfect compliment. Theirs is a screen love I can actually believe.
